Abandoned Match :

A match that is not played for the normal duration (90 minutes), whether due to inclement weather, public safety or public disorder, or for any reason ruled by the referee. An abandoned match should normally be replayed, although individual competition rules may allow the result to stand.

Abductor and Adductor :

Muscles in the thigh located at the height of the junction between the pelvis and the femur. The abductors function is to facilitate the separation of the leg from the body while the adductors function is to move the leg toward the body.

Ace :

Denomination taken from playing cards. In most card games, it is higher than the king, being the card of highest value, but its not the only one. In football, it has much the same meaning. It refers to a player who is highly valued, without saying that he is the necessarily the absolute best

Add :

Simple arithmetic operation that becomes a statistic and remains as the definitive historical record. After the match fairness, luck or incidents have little importance. The numerical result is what matters since the accumulation of points is what determines the progress of a club, places a trophy in the showcase or avoids relegation. Although it ignores the true merits of a team, it is still the best method to reward its performance.

Advantage :

Difference in the number of goals scored in favour of one or other team during a match, or in the number of points in the league table.

Advantage Rule :

The referee has the option of not awarding a foul when he feels that stopping the game favours the fouling side more than the fouled side. The clearest example of this is when a defender clearly handles a ball, but not sufficiently to prevent it from hitting the net. In such a case, the referee does not give the other team a free kick or penalty, but awards the goal. Similarly, if a defender pulls an opponent by the shirt, but this player breaks free and runs on with the ball, the referee may quite rightly allow the game to continue rather than call for a free kick, allowing the offending team to reorganise its defence. In such cases, however, the referee should show the offending player the yellow card at the next stoppage of play.

Advantage, Law :

When giving a foul would favour the team that committed it more than the side it is committed against, the referee has the option of allowing play to continue.

Aerial Power :

A team that has a number of players with renowned ability to head the ball.

After 90 Minutes :

Used in match reports and lists of results to indicate the final score after the normal duration of play but before the extra time has begun.
