Zapatero :

Name given in some South American countries to teams that fail to score a goal in a match.

Zamorana :

Spanish goalkeeper Ricardo Zamora, on occasions, used to use his elbow to deflect shots, hence the name of this peculiar save, which no one has dared to attempt in recent times.

Zonal Marking :

One of the two marking systems which exist, different from man to man marking in that, instead of each defender being assigned an opposing player to follow all over the pitch, in zonal marking defenders are assigned an area of the pitch to control, marking any player who moves into it. The two systems co-exist, as neither has been demonstrated superior to the other, and some coaches even use both according to the opposing team and their characteristics.
